Pochen Chen
Remedial Massage Therapist
Pochen has played volleyball since he was young and, as a result, had many muscular issues in his body. When he came to Australia, he had a chance to work at a massage clinic.”I found massage helped me to reduce the discomfort after exercise.”
Encouraged by an employer to pursue formal training, Pochen enrolled in a remedial massage course at North Metropolitan TAFE, where he learned techniques to release muscular tension. “My body is getting better because of that.” He aims to help people release their muscular issues, just like what he has done through massage.
Education and Qualifications
Pochen has earned the following:
- Diploma of Remedial Massage (2020) – North Metropolitan TAFE
- Dry Needling Certification (2021) – CPD Health Courses
- Traditional East-West Cupping Certification (2021) – Health Traditions
- Bachelor’s Degree (2010) – Humanities and Social Sciences, National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan
In 2014, he also took courses from the National Taiwan Normal University-Graduate Institute of Sport, Leisure and Hospitality Management.
A Passion for Helping Others
For Pochen, the most rewarding aspect of being a remedial massage therapist is the ability to help people, whether they’re seeking pain relief, relaxation, or improved mobility, and witness the positive impact that tailored massage can have on their overall wellbeing and quality of life.
Beyond the Massage Table
Outside of work, Pochen enjoys playing indoor and beach volleyball, exploring new travel destinations, and indulging in Asian cuisine. A former scuba diver, he plans to dive again in Australia. He’s also fluent in Mandarin, Taiwanese, and English, with intermediate Japanese proficiency, and loves singing.
